Hundreds of policemen from various police units including the newly formed City Rapid Action Force, City Armed Reserve and Telangana State Special Police were rushed to Yakutpura and Dabeerpura following the unrest late on Saturday night. The police anticipated violence in the area after around 2,000 people gathered and the numbers kept swelling as several religious events of the Shia community were in progress in the area. The news of Brother Imran allegedly making objectionable remarks against religious figures drew an angry reaction from both the Shia groups and Ahle Sunnatul Jammat group and it spread like wildfire resulting in the tension in Yakutpura and its surroundings. Soon police teams who were in the area rushed to the spot and informed the higher-ups, who too joined in to control the about mob gathered at the place. .

Taking into account the sensitivity of the situation, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar, who was reportedly attending some function, immediately rushed to the spot and supervised the security arrangements. The police started patrolling the areas of Panjesha, Etebar Chowk, Darulshifa, Dabeerpura, Purani Haveli, Yakutpura Bada Bazaar, Noor Khan Bazaar, Alijah Kotla and Rein Bazaar. Few youngsters pelted stones at a police vehicle at Panjesha and Suraj Talkies area following rumours of clashes in Yakutpura.

At around 2 am, the police ‘whisked’ away Brother Imran, president of Islamic Research and Education Foundation to an undisclosed place in a convoy of Vajra vehicles. Senior police officials including Additional Commissioner, D S Chauhan, Joint Commissioner Special Branch – Tarun Joshi, DCP (south) Amber Kishore Jah and others officials camped in the area till morning..
