Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has decided to take stringent action against media organisations and individuals for spreading false and unverified news. State Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar asked the media and the public to confirm the veracity and credibility of content regarding elections in the State before publishing or sharing the news. “We will registering police complaints against those found spreading false news,” he asserted on Tuesday. He rubbished reports in a section of the media that EVMs were being secretly transported in Jagtial and stated that the said EVMs were M-2 model EVMs used only for mock polling, while M-3 EVMs were used for Lok Sabha polls in Jagtial under Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency.
