Khammam: CPM activists burnt an effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Monday over repealing of Article 370 and Article 35-A of the Constitution that grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir (J&K)..
The party cadre led by the party district secretary N Nageswar Rao took out a rally from the CPM office to NSP camp office in the town where they burnt the effigy as a protest. The party leaders described the Centre’s decision unilateral and as dubbed it as a ‘black day’ in the history of the nation. The party leader Nageswar Rao called upon people of the country to condemn the BJP government’s “fascist attitude.” The Centre has created an emergency-like situation in J&K by imposing restrictions on the public and closing down the schools, he said. Meanwhile, Section 144 of CrPC was brought into force with immediate effect under Khammam Police Commissionerate limits. Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal issued an order imposing restrictions on meetings, rallies and public gatherings without prior information. The restrictions will be in force till August 18, he added..
