Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Traffic Police launched an awareness campaign on the revised penalties across the city to educate the public about the amendments to the Motor Vehicle Act..
The Traffic officials held street corner programmes and explained the new penalties to citizens. The police are putting up flex boards and banners, and clearing doubts through social media platforms — Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp, said Anil Kumar, Additional Commissioner (Traffic) Hyderabad. On Tuesday, as part of the campaign, the police organised roadside meetings at 18 places in 18 traffic police station limits. Around 900 drivers and commuters were told about the new traffic provisions as well as the advantages of following safety rules. The officials asked the people to join the Hyderabad Traffic Police in the awareness campaign. They also asked the public to share their ideas/thoughts on the Hyderabad Traffic Police Facebook page, Twitter or over the Traffic Helpline (9010203626)..

Siddipet: The TRS government’s flagship programme Haritha Haram has brought about a lot of change among the public to increase green cover. One such family, who built a new house at Chandlapur village of Chinnakodur mandal located on the outskirts of Siddipet town, had planted over 200 saplings in just 400 yards of area located adjacent to their newly built house. Since they are Goud’s, who are traditionally associated with toddy tapping, the family also took up plantation of over 100 Eetha Trees (Silver Date Palm trees) besides planting an additional 100 teak, red sandal, fruit-bearing, flower bearing and other plants. The couple Mahakankali Goud (65) and Aruna, who had been living in Hyderabad for a living, had constructed the house in a 200 yards space out of 600 yards they had purchased very recently. Mahakankali Goud’s father Ramaiah Goud had migrated to Hyderabad in search of livelihood some 70 years ago, but Mahakankali Goud returned to Chandlapur recently to spend rest of his life here by constructing a house for his family here. Since Chandlapur village was displaced under Ranganayaka Sagar, his wife Aruna saw many trees being felled while constructing the house.
